Capture your 3D world
The Artec system may be used in a whole variety of scenarios and applications:
• Sculpture
• Facial expressions acquisition
• Archaeology
• Motion capture
• Object scanning
• Body scanning
• Custom tailoring
• Orthopedics
• Dietology
• Prototyping
• Insurance records
• Anatomical forms to compare changes
• Plastic Surgery ......
Artec Group 3D scanning technology enables fast and accurate acquisition of the object surface (depth) using a method of structured light. With this system, qualitative 3D models can be acquired in snap-shot or video modes.
As of today, the Artec Group has filed four patent applications in the United States and two in Russia.
The secret behind Artec Group technology is the combination of its novel and fast surface reconstruction algorithms and the proprietary hardware that enables accurate and real-time 3D scanning of objects with arbitrary topology. If you can use a video camera, then you should have no problem using an Artec 3D scanner, with a little training and guidance.
For full details Artec 3D Scanners are manufactured by Artec Group Inc. and distributed in the UK by Patrick Thorn & Co as complete installed solutions.

The Artec 3D Scanners are based on 3D video camera technology that is combined with state of the art 3D acquisition and processing software to product fast 3D caputure. The system captures video and each single frame is a three-dimensional image. The scanning process becomes extremely straightforward, simply walk around the object capturing it with the camera from various angles, while the accompanying software automatically combines all the scanned frames into a single mesh. With data capture up to 15 frames per second and patented data alignment on the fly, you can even capture moving objects.

The original named Artec TDS models can be either hand held or mounted on a tripod, these are available in 3 different sizes and are called Artec S = Small, Artec M = Medium or Artec L= Large. In certain applications you can have multiple models of the same or different sizes linked to the same computer (pending computer specification) so as to capture larger objects more quickly.

Artec MH and MHT models, offer versatile ergonomic hand held facilities especially for the person who needs to move around their objects with ease. The user range of both models are based on the medium Artec M model. MH is perfect for most applications to acquire 3D data, MHT (T for Texture) not only captures the 3D form, but also the 3D colour image which is mapped to the model.

Easy to Use - Artec Scanner software is included with every Artec 3D model. Full control of the scanning process is performed with just a couple of clicks of the mouse of keyboard. Scanned data is quickly processed, with flexibility to align multiple scans where required. A couple of more clicks and the model is fused together. Options for smoothing and mesh optimisation are just at hand if you need them. Adding colour texture from the Artec MHT is included as are measurement tools.
Export the result into one of several 3D formats (VRML, Obj, STL, Ply, Ascii, AOP) to work with a variety of 3D applications available on the market, such as Autodesk Maya, 3DMax, Autocad, Pixologic ZBrush, Blender, XSI, Mudbox, Picasoft-Mayka, Geomagic, Rapidform and many others.
